Food waste facts
Global food waste
The world's population has reached 7 billion, of which 925 million are starving. It is estimated that more than 30% of the world's food production ends up as garbage. That puts the annual food waste at a staggering 1,3 billion tons - or enough to feed 3 billion people.

Food, famine and food waste
By 2050 the world population will reach 9 billion. By then, food production must be increased by 70% to meet the demand. Reducing food waste should be among the main focus areas.
